The UUOCC
The UUOCC (Unitarian Universalist Ocean County Congregation) was formed in 1985. Several locations have served as the congregation’s home since then, but presently UUOCC meets on the site of one of the first Universalist sermons delivered in the new world. Murray Grove is that place. Named for John Murray, the minister who delivered that sermon in 1770.
Today, the UUOCC is an engaged, passionate and growing community. Like all Unitarian Universalists, we strive to live by a set of shared values every day of the week. Love is the power that holds us together. It’s at the center of our shared values. The values we share include all the following, which we hold as inseparable and deeply interconnected:
Interdependence: We honor the interdependent web of all existence and acknowledge our place in it.
Pluralism: We are all sacred beings, diverse in culture, experience, and theology.
Justice: We work to be diverse multicultural Beloved Communities where all feel welcome and can thrive.
Transformation: A living tradition adapts to changing world and supports individuals in their growth and the deepening of their understanding.
Generosity: We cultivate a spirit of gratitude and hope.
Equity: We declare that every person is inherently worthy and has the right to flourish with dignity, love, and compassion.
